For the canon 24-70 mk2, it's also using the 82mm filter am I right?

Correct.

Thanks for sharing. Certainly something to be worried about:

Thanks for sharing this important bit of information. Certainly will help those mulling over the purchase. For those who have bought the lens, like me, I will just have to keep an eye out for this issue.

Watch your copy closely. Bring back to tamron at first hint of trouble.

He bought many copies... he runs a lens rental company...

maybe you should read the article.. more than 1 copy had the same problem.

I will stick to my Nikon 24-70mm. No point buying the Tamron and worry each time I use it.

Definitely will be interesting to get a response from Tamron on the issue...

I think the only response would be "If you experience this phenomenon, please bring your lens down for us to service." Haha.

Scary.. more like a shocker if 1 day i see my lens to be in this manner :o

To put things in perspective:

Maurice,

If I can save you a rental – we have had 3 of 29 copies do this, but each copy has shipped round trip multiple times, so it’s nothing close to 10% of shipments being this way. Maybe 3%.

Roger"

As a lens rental company, their lenses see a lot of mileage.
Under this treatment, which you could probably call a torture test, they experienced 3% failure after multiple shipments.

I'm surprised they actually just glue the lens element in place... >.<

Aiyoh, this conclusion of this review worked out better for the tamron than the canon.

How many years local warranty does the tamron have?
