yo bro and sis...i have been thinking of which lens to use on my dynax9ti...hehe new bought cos i tink film camera is more suitable for me...anyway me wish to get a lens to the camera but still tinking which lens is cheap and could produce sharp images...which to buy maybe 24-75mm or 28-200 or 28-300mm...oh yes must be short in length...any ideas bros & sis out there...

It depends again how critical are you and depend on weight you want to carry and it also depend on your budget.

If you own a 9ti, I assume weight is not the issue and money is not the issue.

I would go for Minolta 28-75 f2.8 D and try to find Minolta 80-200 f2.8 APO G HS, or find Sigma EX 70-200 f2.8 series.

If you need a wide angle, Sigma 15-30 is very nice, or Konica Minolta 17-35 f2.8-4.0

If you are after all in one Tamron 28-200 or 28-300 should fit in nicely.

Hart

something more to add...

if you prefer Prime lenses

you may choose the following...

Minolta 20mm f2.8, Minolta 28mm f2.8, Minolta 50mm f1.7, Minolta 100mm f2.8 Macro, Minolta 200mm f2.8 APO G HS.

And if you want more, just add more lenses in between the focal length. They are lighter and sharper, but not that convenience.

Hart

bro hart, you mention tamron 28-200 & 28-300...is it the XR type or the normal i think LD type...and of which is better XR or LD...i have little knowledge of lens...which brand of 3rd party lens would you seriously recommend...ya how is their focusing...i tried tamron 24-105 on dynax 700xi i found it slightly slow to focus even at 24mm...i think focusing is very important..

the Tamron 28-200 or 28-300 new version are some good lenses. but they are slow...

the 700xi is a old body, the motor in the camera is of cause not as powerful as the newer versions. zoom lenses are mostly slower....if fast is what u are into, go for primes.

If focussing speed is important, best to avoid the extended zoom range lens... because they are a compromise between convenience and image quality/ AF speed.

Better of getting 28-75mm f2.8 D and some other longer zoom. (Some say Sigma EX 70-200 f2.8 is nice). Reason, I don't say Minolta 80-200 or 70-200 is that its hard to get lens nowadays.

bro, how about minolta 28-105mm...it is good??? bro GENO tot of buying the lens from u but i have not enough $$$ this mth...so have to look at the lens to be sold away...hmmmm.....

Eh.. there is no Minolta 28-105 f2.8 but there is Tamron SP 28-105 f2.8

Although, it is not as sharp at f2.8, it is very sharp at f3.5 onward. In the field, I hardly shoot anything less than f5.6, I use f2.8 sometime, but find it is a little soft, but very much acceptable for people photography. You can always put some sharpening in Post processing stage. Anything else, you also don't shoot with f2.8 because of depth of field.

Tamron SP 28-105 f2.8 has to be one of the most versatile lens... hehe.. I always said this lens is for lazy people... because it zoom from 28mm to 105mm and keeping f2.8 constant.

I was thinking of selling it but not much people interested on this lens... I have too many lenses and I can't keep them all.. hence it will still be up for sale if someone wants it. If you want it, just PM me..

I am tempted by the f/2.8 but the wide end puts me off... not wide enough... I am the ultimate lazy bug... prefer a 24-105 f/2.8 but that would weigh a ton and cost a bomb... :)

Don't be lazy... 28mm and 24mm often is the different between 2 to 3 steps.. for that 2 to 3 steps, you save lots of money...

if f2.8 is not so critical, Minolta 24-105D is good although, cheap enough:) to match a 9Ti

to date, there's no 24-105mm 2.8 lens. However, you can get the 24-70mm 2.8EX Sigma. That's a fantastic lens, sharp and fast. I've been using that for a while and very happy with it.

Anyone got a chance to try the Tamron 17-50 f2.8 XR Di II LD and Sigma 17-70 F2.8-4.5 DC?

I heard the sigma is out..:D
