Tamron SP Di II 60mm F/2 Macro Lens for E-Mount?

Got my Tamron 60mm f/2.0 Di II and attached via Sony LA-EA1 adaptor.

Very nice lens, based on my newbie opinion.
Not sure if it is any basis of comparison, for portrait function, I compared it with the kit 18-55mm at 55mm zoom f/3.5, the sharpness & bokeh looks very different compared to the tamy. The focus peaking is a joy to use for manual focusing.

I like the 1:1 magnification but I will like to magnify it a little more...say 2-3:1
I think the only solution is to add on a Raynox DCR-250...but I'm concern about reducing the operating distance and reducing the DOF even more....dilemma

Thanks for your quick reply!

So with focus peaking enabled, this manual focusing will be easier?

Yep. Many forumers did say they enjoy doing MF with de FP.

Of cos for portrait u cannot compare with kit lens. De kit lens has other uses which de Tamron will not be suitable hence de whole idea of ILCs - to be able change lens according to ur needs. Btw, u cannot get f3.5 at 55mm. F3.5 can only get at 18mm.

oops..you are right. I used the minimum f at 55mm.

If you use flash when shooting macro, there's a flash extender FA-EX1S (available as a part at Sony Service) that will ensure your adapter+lens won't cast a shadow in your frame. Dunno if that would be a problem with the relatively short Tamron 60mm, though.

Focus peaking is a bug shooter's dream-come-true, especially with an articulating LCD. Shooting macro on my NEX-C3 was what prompted my decision to switch to alpha. After that first time, I never again powered up my D700.

Now you got me thinking I should get an LA-EA1 . . .

I'm holding out for the LA-EA2, besides shooting bugs it would be nice shooting birds with the PDAF.

Raynox's working distance/focal distance is prob too close to capture larger toys like HG/MG size Gundams. The Tamron is low SGD700+ if you know which shop to ask.

btw, I'm intending to add on a Raynox to the Tamron to get real up close for some of my carnivorous plants;)
