Tamron 17-50 f/2.8 or Sigma 18-50 f/2.8 Macro

Well Tamron 17-50 and the Sigma 18-50 f2.8 not alot of practical difference, though I feel the Sigma focusing faster. I love my Sigma 18-50 F2.8 (no HSM, the very 1st version).

Personally I found my copy sharper at f2.8 than the Canon 17-40L at F4. YMMV.

Haha incidentally I also have the 17-40 and I think thats a pretty good lens for daytime shooting. And the feel of the lens is just excellent. The images coming from the Sigma are very very impressive it must be said :). More cause for buying it over the Tamron and also the Tamron's AF whine is quite a turn-off in some situations.
