Swivel LCD screen for ANY camera

Awesome find. Looks tempting!

Yupz. I have one. Used only once.

Which camera did you use it with?

I used it with my Canon 60D.

My honest reviews :-

Positive
- My Canon 60D battery can be used on the Swivi.
- Good display compared to the small LCD on the camera.
- Focus peaking easy to interpret compared to Magic Lantern version.
- Comes with a sun shade.

Negative
- Short HDMI cable from the Swivi.

For the price I paid, I find it worth it. $350 from sgcamerastore.com (not promoting, just sharing where I bought from)

Thanks! Almost wanted to order online. IMHO Better value than Sony.

Bamboopictures>>> Another point for consideration, if you want to use Swivi like any other displays, you know they mount on top of your camera or on another horse-shoe metal bracket or friction arm, Swivi is not able to do that due to its size and its short HDMI cable. Anyway, if you want to feel or take a look at mine, let me know. Friday I will be going around Peninsula to survey camerabag or camera case. Can meet up for coffee. Least, you will have a better picture of Swivi. Can pm me.

Bamboopictures>>> Because of this video, I bought the Swivi. Initially, wanted to buy Small DP6 but way beyond my pay grade.

sgcamerastore's pricing is really good. Tempted to get it now after thinking of a smallHD for the past 8 months.

Anyway, is there any other way to power the monitor?

Big thanks to Daniyal for letting me play with his gear! Great value for money. Has HDMI pass-through if you want to use with external recorder. There is about 1 inch of give on the bottom sliding knob so it should fit a variety of camcorders/DSLR. The canon battery is itty bitty so that really helps with the weight.
One amazing feature is it automatically inverts the image if you want to mount it upside down. So you can pretty much use it any creative set- up, (cages, friction-arm etc) not neccessarily with DSLR. Just need an extension for the HDMI cable. For that price, it can't be beat.

Bamboopictures>>> Nice meeting you Bro. You really tore me apart with your knowledge and experiences. I am still stoned. Hahahhahahah. Talking about the inverted display automatically when you invert the camera. Even I discovered it today. That was nice discovery. Once again, Thank You so much. Whatever you share with me today is very very valuable to me. I strongly believe it would help me in my learning journey. Thanks Bro. :)

hamanoshun>>> I dun think so. Only battery. One of the reasons why I bought it because it can use my Canon 60D battery. No need to buy or to fix additional adapter. Saves time and hassle.

Is the mic port still accessible with the monitor attached?

The charge on it isn't quite phenomenal, and many monitors have options to run on Sony and V-mounts, so if it just had the Sony option it'd be great.

Hi Daniyal,

Did you notice any delay on the monitor when switching the camera between liveview and review and also from liveview to recording?
One thing I have noticed a few other external monitors is that they supposedly have this 5Dmk2 mode that will minimize the delay when going from liveview to record. This has got something to do with the different resolution the HDMI passes out during liveview mode and recording mode. Thanks.

wow, nice! Love to try it on a D800.

I would like to know if 1) the screen is sharp/big enough to determine the focus, 2) does the sun shade work under intense sunlight?

Thanks.

beachbum>>> Yes. There is a delay. Not as bad as ML software. I would consider it negligable.

JacePhoto>>> It comes with Focus Peaking function which is quite simple to interpret comapared to ML. And yes, the sun shade helps a lot. I have tried it out. If you are using Nikon, you need to change the monitor settings from Mode 1 to Mode 2. If not, your displayed video will be in 4:3 format, not full screen.

This looks good, but is there space to plug into the headphone jack? Seems like it's covered up.
