Superior write speed of D70

dear Canon users, kindly scroll to the top of the page. It says clearly that this is the Nikon sub-forum, and naturally, the regulars in this subforum have chosen Nikon cameras as their equipment. If you do come in to someone's home turf and discredit their equipment, you're just asking for a bashing (pun intended).

The so-called Nikon Council is a group of photographers who meet up to discuss photography and photographic equipment in GENERAL. Before you make any assumptions, please clear your facts. We do indeed have members who use multiple systems, including Canon, Pentax, Minolta, Leica, Bessa, Hassey, Mamiya, Bronica, etcetera. The reason for us coining the term "Nikon Council" is due to the fact that all of us use Nikon.

We do not take any responsibility for any of our members' malicious activities in the forum. Please do not associate the other more benign members of the council with such activities.

Once again, this IS the NIKON forum, and we're at the heart of the image. Have a good day, and stop saying we don't get out and shoot. We do. More than you, at least, if you can be here all day commenting on us. Just today, at least 4 members of the council were out on shoots. Also, not participating in ClubSNAP organised shoots does not mean we're not shooting.

Personally, I do not post many photos here for critique, as I prefer to go straight to my respected photography mentors.

While I myself use Nikon equipment and the "Nikon Council" is welcome to discuss all things pertaining to Nikon, please make sure that all discussions abide by our Terms of Use - specifically #1 and #6.

Repeated dis-regard of the Terms of Use will result in banishment no matter what brand of camera you use.

It is so typical of the Nikon Council to come in to bash up threads nowadays.

That reflects badly on them don't you think. :think: I thought this type of "council" should be a place where members gather and trade tips, advice and skills and share equipment knowledge. Instead they are becoming known more for their "bashing" of that other camera brand.

Im new to all this but having read all the posts in this thread, i feel that the few Nikon Council members has stepped out of line in their boast n calling others "suckers", perhaps the Admin n moderators of this forum should step in n take necessary action to prevent a repeat of such outbursts as a forum is suppose to foster better understanding of photography n camaderie amongst fellow photo enthusiasts n should not be used to insult any particular brand user or for forming "cliques".

From reading their posts, i believe some members here are very well versed technically but why the need to "slam" other posters who do not support/share similar views? Is this the whole purpose of a forum? To "slam" anyone who do not agree with your view??

Ive just joined as a member a few days ago n have only read a few threads but this one gives me the feeling that there is bad blood between the users of different brands of cameras n name calling should not be used here. It reminds me of a certain photo club of days of old, where one will only be spoken to when one owns an upmarket brand of camera irrespective of whether u are a newbie or a pro.Then they started to form "cliques" by camera brand, that really put me off!!

Im all for sharing info. n discussion but not trading insults!
Debating is fine, pls realise not everyone understands the point of your topic n being the starter the onus is on you to explain to ppl like us who are not so well versed technically!

Disregard the council if this is all they are good for.

Lastly, I don't think it's healthy to meet up just to discuss equipment like a certain council here. It just breeds unhealthy behaviour.

Who bashed threads? Did we say anything in the first place? I don't get it, Nikon council is a term for a group of nikon users that meet frequently and shoot/talk/share their knowledge and helping out of users.

Did we bash up this thread? I don't think so. Get your facts right, and look at the subforum title, it says here "NIKON" not some Kwanon or Minolta, so it's our homeground, we do what we like. If you want to come in and comment, make sure you don't forget where you're standing.

Just like my posts in Canon subforum, as by far means I make sure I never bash the threads and produce reasonably well comments/suggestions/help I can to the posters. And I think Watcher has been doing the same, but look at Nikon subforum? WHO BASHED WHO?

Garion, you know me, I'm part of the gang that meets regularly, we DO trade tips, advice and skills and share equipment knowledge with newbies, oldies and anybody alike. Ask arikevin, BeachBoy, I dare to say near the whole of the Nikon council wsa there to help them purchase their D70 and gadrian was there to advise on the usage of flash systems etc, and sykestang provided a guide to BeachBoy on the 80-200. And personally, I did help BeachBoy together with adrian on the purchase of the SB-800, I don't know how many other brand users are that kind to help out. :dunno:

Apart from there, there were 4 canon users that dropped by our meeting place today and joined us, just FYI, we were out shooting together, then met some others, did we bash them? We aren't bashing if I may put it this way, we're just discussing, but somehow facts & hard points prick the feelings too hard and people tend to jump too fast to defend their brands and end up, thread bashing occurs, if you read the first thread carefully, it was a clear comparison only on the CF write speed, who degenerated the thread into a D2H capabilities vs 1D MKII capabilities?

The name was left out intentionally, but if the conscience can't get past and people wants to think what they think, nothing we can do...

Whoever TYPED or SPECIFICALLY SAID THAT Canon users were suckers? Again, if the conscience is pricked and you feel that you were, you won't think that suckers were ever mentioned anywhere.

"Clicks" are good in a sense, we're willing to share our equipment, knowledge and help each other in choosing the right system and our time and effort in getting better bargains and such. Is there such a group that does it for other brands? I don't know, as I find it so far, the Nikon council from just a normal casual meet up for dinner/coffee has expanded vastly into helping newbies wanting to try D70, S2 Pro, D2H, D100 and NEARLY the wide range of primes/professional lenses (thanks to gadrian & sykestang) before they decide. There were no insult anywhere, we were discussing healthly, must have been the conscience, must be. I don't see newbies like arikevin & BeachBoy get scared when we first met them.

Infact, ask BeachBoy, it was I who approached him as he was purchasing his camera at CP, gadrian was there, and thereafter joined with Nikon council members. Helpful or just glad that people were buying a D70? Your choice.

Like you said, it's a feeling, personally I've gone shooting with multiple brands, ask around.

I just need to stress, the group of current 'members' in the 'Nikon council' were FRIENDS that met regularly and joined together by others and forming a regular team of people that use mostly Nikon.

'Nikon council' was a term just fabricated to term our meetings, it was never meant to be a group to purposely target specifically any brand or any other brand. Somehow some other kids took it too personally and was quick to point fingers and identifying culprits.

Suaning pple is so addictive rite? On a serious note, are you sure u r not misinterpreting what some canon users were saying. Like what u said, keep an open mind. Sometimes pple can't express themselves well while others can't comprehend well. Misunderstanding will arise.

I think we have had enough, the thread has degenerated too far.

The forum has no need for peeps who call others measurabators while themselves measurabating over their made believe perceptions, we have no need for those who think they are so into the industry while in reality are not even close to touching the rim of the global media arena, and we certainly do not need another Canon vs Nikon flamewar here.

I think it is better to spend time shooting and refining you techniques.
