Hi all,

I run a small design company and sometimes we get customers' request to shoot their products. These are normally small items like mp3 players, hand phones etc. Slightly bigger items could be muffins, ice creams, birthday cakes etc. So, size wise, from 5cm to 20cm.

I need help to decide what's the suitable lense, in terms of cost and IQ, that are suitable for this kind of job. Quite newbie, so need help from pro. I have 50mm 1.8, which is great. But, sometimes need to shoot from a distance because it is not macro lense. I am shooting with Canon 400D and plan to upgrade to 40D in the future.

The following lenses are under my considerations

1. Canon EF-S 60mm f/2.8 USM - around $700(?)
2. Canon EF 100mm f/2.8 Macro USM - around $1000(?)
(what's the price difference the two? And, will 100mm be suitable? I heard 100mm is more for shooting inserts, flower buds etc.)

3. Tamrom AF 90mm f/2.8 Di Macro - around $560. How's the IQ for this lense?
4. Canon EF 85mm f/1.8 USM - i know this is not macro lense. But, it is excellent for potrait and I would love to have the 1.8

Need your help and advice. Thanks.
