Bought a used lens from them 2 weeks ago. First they screwed up my order... and delayed the shipping. Next they send me a lens with fungus! And this lens is supposed to be EX condition (I can stand minor scratches... but not fungus!)...

Hopefully bro fatigue can help me clean up this lens... else I gotta send this lens back to them and ask for a refund.

Highly advised not to buy from Keh unless you are located in the USA due to return policies. Many believe that their EX condition now is equivalent to their BARGAIN condition last time. PMed you some info.

Care to share links with regard to the problems? :)

not bad, Keh.com offered to send me a replacement at no extra charge. hopefully the replacement that comes is in good condition (at least no fungus!)

I suppose u will needto return the one infested with fungus?Do you need to pay for shipping then?

They did not mention. But I will check with them.

You usually need to pay for return shipment.

I totally understand that's normally the case but doesn't that mean you're paying more for an item whereas it's their fault in the first place...

Unfortunate you got a lemon with your first purchase. I bought a LN- lense from them Aug last year, also my first time, and its condition was as stated if not better to my eyes. Hope it sorts out for the best.

yeah thats why i say i am unlucky haha, i have read reviews that some bought a BGN grade but received a EX+ or even better condition! too bad it's just not my day.

just to share a funny experience when i called DeCamera Consultant and talked to Philip to get a quote how much he charged for cleaning this lens... guess what happen? When I told him I am going to get this lens converted to EOS mount, he gave me a dressing down and ask me to leave this lens alone and use an adaptor instead... but then i know that is not possible from the research i done online... cos using an adaptor (usually a FD mount one), there will be glass in btw and that will affects the photo quality so best option for this lens is to convert it to EOS mount permanently. And so after giving me a dressing down... he finally quoted me $35 for cleaning but he got mention that he cannot guarantee if he can clean it completely.

Kudos to mr Philip

For those who appreciate old camera, modding lens mount is taboo. Those old lenses are piece of art and historical items, not only tools to take picture.

yup, i never blamed him for the dressing down (only found it amused haha) but then in order to appreciate old lenses on modern cams, some sacrifices will have to be made which in this case unfortunately this particular type of lens. I have used a Carl Zeiss and Olympus Zuiko lens with adaptor, but it just don't work on this Minolta lens (found out from research on the net).

Keh.com had given me the permission to discard this lens I got from them. So that means I need not ship back this lens.

But to be frank, I don't intend to discard this lens, cos the condition of this lens is not that bad except that it had some fungus, going to send to bro fatigue to clean it up and get it converted to EOS mount while waiting for the replacement lens to be sent to me (hopefully it is not as bad) which I will get it converted to EOS mount as well. As to why I want both copies, so I can choose and keep one of these copies and probably let go the other copy whom might be interested.

ok i know there will be some ppl who critised me for this (for being unethical or what so ever). So i intend to lock this thread before this happens.

But here's my reasoning:

1. I paid a total of USD $131.95 (including shipping) for this lens already.
2. It is not my fault that Keh.com needs to send me a replacement lens and neither I did ask for it. I merely email them what are they going to about it since I receive a bad copy from them. They offered me this replacement lens at no extra cost as a gesture of goodwill.
3. They have given permission for me to discard this lens and I need not ship it back to them. But discarding this lens is such a pity given its condition (except for the fungus), so i am going to get bro fatigue to help me clean this lens for a fee out of my own pocket and keep this lens instead (afterall I had paid for it!), Keh.com did not reimburse me for this.

What's next?
1. I will get bro Ben Ang convert this lens and the replacement lens to EOS mount and decide later which copy to keep (no point keeping two identical copies). Charges for this lens conversion will be borne by me.
2. Most probably I will sell the other copy in this forum in B&S to whom may be interested. This may even be the initially fungus infected lens. But like I say, I will get bro fatigue to clean it first to ensure there is no more traces of fungus. I leave it to the interested buyer to do the due diligence check if he wish to buy it from me (of cos i will offer a few days personal warranty). Please note that this is a "I want to sell and Buyer want to buy" deal, I did not force the potential buyer who is going to buy from me to buy this lens.

To be even more transparent. The current copy I have now that have fungus, the serial number is 3809165.

I don't like to do things in the dark, so to prevent myself from being accused of cheating in future, I make myself clear and transparent now. So before anyone starts pointing fingers at me, please read the above in bold and my intentions.
