no lah, from level 6 by the railing, using 70-200 lens. only saw 1 official photog on the ground, none where shooting from the top. (i wished i could :D )

where is this competition held BTW?

flash isn't encouraged in such a situation.

the event is a speed (not difficulty) climbing competition, and by pumping the flash from above the climbers, you may pose distraction as the human eye will naturally open up in low light levels, and potentially blinding them as they are gauging their moves.

in the future, do gauge if it is safe enough to use flash at all. :)

thanks im fully aware of it. Someone would have stopped me if any climbers complained.

it would be best to clarify with the organizers - it doesn't mean if you're not stopped, it would be okay either. the rest of the group who went for the SLeague shots were clearly instructed though, that flashes and tripods weren't welcome. at least if you asked first, and covered your actions with the organizers, the climbers, SHOULD they raise a complaint, can't take action against you.

best to think in the shoes of the sportspeople you're shooting. :)
