Spirit Level

Apart from panoramic photography the other main use of a bubble level is when using perspective control lenses, where the lens has to be quite accurately leveled in both horizontal and vertical planes. I'm just so mad as my level was stolen with the rest of the day bag along with my PC lens.

Hey kit, thanks for sharing. I did not mean to be rude by asking if u did any adjustments on PS. It was gd explanation and I understand why sometimes after all that adjustment, the spirit level can be off centre.

Are u a professional photographer who specialise in taking shots of buildings by any chance? Was told that those chaps earn big money as they spend a lot of time adjusting make sure that the level is really balance. I am not surprised that it took 20 mins to "get things right".

Nevertheless, thanks for sharing. Sure appreciate it.

Heh!! Nope, far from being a pro. In fact, didn't even think of that with my skills:D I'm just a student doing a degree in Architecture.

If you want to know how the pros work, ask the guy above your post.:D

Hi Ian, were u the guy that had his whole cam bag stolen and then there was some debate abt insurance? I really pity u man...any news from the Police so far?

This is the bubble level I use when I need to get the body nice and level... very useful for landscape or structural pics. ;)

Actually, mine is a no-brand one I bought from SpeedGraphics here in the UK. It might be by Cullman but it came as-is without any packaging.

Just being KayPoh...how much did u pay for it in the UK?

About £5.00, I think. I imagine it is cheaper back in S'pore, right?

Yes that was me, no debate over the insurance, they are covering the entire cost of replacing the gear without a quibble. No news from the Police as yet.

i got one from the uk cheap by mailorder (since i was ordering film as well), 'Hama' brand. unfortunately, it is not perfectly calibrated.... i.e. a bit 'off'. so always check before you buy...

Cost abt S$25 for the cullman in Singapore...btw, how does one check if the spirit level thingy is perfectly balance to begin with?

I had always assumed that these are 'precision' instrument when manufactured and some QC has gone into them...
