Seems to be light as well from what I've seen - much like a magnifying glass focuses and intensifies sunlight to burn things, the adapter forces the image circle to squeeze to aps-c size, which logically also intensifies exposure (just like an extension tube would dim an image).
Of course, I could be mistaken. Anyone with the adapter and a Canon ff system would be better able to shed more light.
Comparing the pics taken with the 6D + EF40mm and the NEX 6 + SB + EF40mm .. the NEX 6 combo is consistently 'faster' in exposure by 1.5-stop thereabouts.
