They told me 2 weeks ago coming liao. Anyway good news is the CF card can be non sony! But u need something like Sandisk IV. Handheld is pretty nice and balanced. LCD however seems smaller than Z1.. EX LCD is the best of cse.

have anyone tried the z7 ...its price its about 8.3k now?

very interesting
It records to CF card only....no options for DV tapes?

I wonder why there isnt a camera that records to 2.5in hard drive that can be plugged in and out
just like a CF card?
then you can edit from that harddisk, without even having to download to your pc.
Wouldnt that be wonderful ?

I know about firestore, but this way, you just buy external harddisk,,not $1000 dollars system.

The Z7 is HDV so it does record to tapes. The CF recorder can be used instead of, or as well as, the tape. If I had this cam (or the CF recorder with my XH-A1) I would record on both tape and CF card, then copy the files from the card to my PC for editing, and store the tape as an archive. Best of both worlds.

External hard disk needs power, right, so you already need a sort of "system" solution to provide that. Also the hard disk needs to have a file system to convert the digital video stream to files that can be read by a PC or Mac. The Firestore solution is expensive, but so is the Sony hard disk solution and others that I've seen. These devices are not really mass market so the cost will always look high compared with PC hardware.

Price close to EX1, but they're different purposes.

But of course EX1 has much better image quality overall, but Z7 and S270 records on tape which the EX1 can't....so they are apple and orange.

Anyway, its not really that close...EX1 will cost u 15k for a basic setup...

What good about these two models is that the lens are interchangeable! We can use films lens like Sony's SLR lens or canon's HD lens. EX1 is very expensive and the weight is not centralized.

just a question. Have anyone bought the camera?
can give me a review about it.

Cheers
Sam
