Not to be rude, but if all you are looking for is a camera, yes, it good, it captures pictures. Regarding pros and cons of camera, it's always up to individual on what are their expectations of the camera features/ergonomics/price etc. If you are looking for the full set of reviews/technical specifications and comparison, google will be a good place to start off.

If A65 fits your desire/budget/feeling, I wonder what can be wrong with it?

A65 is 1-2 classes higher than the D5100, which is still and entry-level DSLR.

Have you compared the features? Made a list of what you like/don't like?

What attracts you to the A65? What attracts you to the D5100? Please show us what research you have done so far. We need to know how far you are into your research to let you know what you may have missed.

if you are a reasonably good photographer, you can take nice photo with anything... (check out youtube DRTV's Pro Photographer Cheap Camera series where all the pros are "sabo-ed" to use low end cameras...very low end ones. think Lego camera...good to laugh, too)

Yes. Sony SLT A65 is good... and yes, Nikon D5100 is good too... hope that answer your question.

Oh... and go down to the shop and have a feel of both camera, get the one that you feel best in.

however, buying a dSLR is more than just buying a camera.

there can be many other factors to consider, such as:
- ergonomics of different camera bodies/ brands (individual preference)
- available lenses and prices (unless you don't plan to get new lenses other than the kit lens)
- do you have friends using the same brand (can borrow lenses)
- service center(?)

LOL this is total nonsense. Everyone uses this argument but realistically people will not want to let their lenses out of sight.

Both Nikon and Sony are good here - With Sony you can drop off/pick up at any SonyStyle too

There's far more to it...

- Do you need fast AF in liveview/video?
- Do you want built-in stabilization?
- Do you want built-in panorama, HDR, etc?
- Do you want fast FPS?
- Do you need 24MP? (Hint: Look at the A57, it uses an improved version of the D5100 sensor)

Oh... one more thing to look into... Budget.

So... base on all that... just get the Pentax K-5! You don't have any light lost (as was found in SLT technology). Okay speed, great image capability, built in image stabilization, good MP rate, one of the best weather sealing capability... can use great Pentax lenses (Sony and Nikon also have great lenses by the way)

Plus... Pentax's prices are quite resonable and not that out of the world. With that price, it is really value for money.

Looks like TS is just any usual people out there. I want to buy a DSLR (for whatever reason). Is this good? Is that good?
The answer could be..If you are this kind. Any camera is probably good enough for you. Since you also not sure/dontknow what you're looking for. So just get what makes you a more happy person. Infact maybe a PNS/Camera phone would serve you better.

The funny thing is, many of the same class lenses cost pretty much the same with or without stabilization... especially when you look at manufacturers which make lenses for multiple brands.
