Sony RX10 with 1" sensor; 24-200mm 2.8

Pricing for RX10 USD1298
much bigger than I thought if this leaked pic is to be believed. An RX really?

I think this has potential to be a legend.
1" about the size of BMCC Mk1. At f2.8, bokeh likely could be achieved at comfortable shooting distance.
Bottomline: DSLR-like video but camcorder convenience (including audio!!!). What camcorder has 24mm-200mm range and built-in ND filter?
Bokeh fetishist can start calculating the DOF from the focal length 8.8-73.3mm

Pppanasonic fz200 a better choice, no?

I can't imagine a situation where a videographer would prefer the FZ200.
RX10's sensor is more than 6 times larger. Aperture is constant throughout the entire zoom.
EXMOR sensor itself is already 2 or more stops more sensitive with cleaner gain.

Features like focus peaking and zebra makes RX10 suitable for professional use.
The audio feature is almost non-existent in FZ200 but RX10 audio is XLR ready with headphone monitoring.
These two cameras are not in the same league and the price reflects that.
See a direct comparison of the FZ200 to RX10 here:

I would even venture so far to say that the RX10 is actually designed as a GH3-killer.
The combined cost of the GH3 and both its professional zoom : 12-35mm f2.8 and 35-100 f2.8 is already 2.5 times the price of the RX10 and yet the GH3 does not have focus peaking, built-in ND filter (incredibly, the RX10 has!) or balanced audio input options.
It is quite easy to sacrifice a little by way of sensor size (RX10's 1" vs GH3's 1.3")and reap 2.5 times savings in total cost of ownership and in the process even gain
some professional features, shed some weight and lose the hassle of changing lens forever.

I think we learned from Rodney and his inputs than any other real people. He has been willing to spend his time teaching and sharing his knowledge more than any one else I have seen in this forum.

I am willing to pay for his knowledge if he ever conducts a class. I wouldn't even bother with others.

If others spent their time sharing knowledge than bullying others w their little given inputs, the world would be a better place.

Willingness to teach and share is a good thing. And I applaud that. But that has nothing to do with nor give him a free pass to troll, especially when I have already given him 2 warnings prior to issuing any infractions. If any of you have strong feelings about a certain brand or model of camera, you can share your love. But DO NOT go into another subforum and start dissing other camera brands and models. Everyone has their own needs and preferences. Any brand war or brand/model stirring is NOT WELCOMED in ClubSNAP and go against the rules and regulations of this forum. Offenders will be severely dealt with with no exceptions.

Thanks for the pointers. Its not something everyone knows or read the forum rules. But am glad you have done the knowledge sharing of what not to do.

Thank you for your understanding. We have to be very firm with this. Photography and Videography is about the artistic vision. Starting and winning a brand/model war will serve no purpose but build up a lot of anger and negativity. Focus on what is important, the craft and the techniques, not what is better than what...
