Here we go, the new PD-175 with EXMOS chips. SD version of the Z5 for folks who wish to stick with DV. Strange to see a new DV cam in HD era but I guess the market is still there in many countries hence the move. Oh yes, this baby is compatible with the CF card recording unit. Means you can record to solid state now. Price? I dunno man!!

what do u think? will the CCD vs CMOS debate will start? The PD170P is legendary indeed. and there are adding a new NP970!!

Aiyoh dun start the war hopefully. CCD is out for Sony but still got JVC. Anyway I tried the real thing. Really looks like Z5 side by side.

I was so hoping that the MRC1K could snap on to the back of the PD175 just like it does on the Z5U since both camera share the same chasis. But in typical Sony fashion, they removed that option too along with HDV recording. So instead, the MRC1K needs to be connected via firewire cable and a separate battery too.
It's a wasted opportunity for Sony really because there is no SD camera on the market designed to record DV/DVCAM to flash memory. Maybe a DVX103 from Panasonic with a built in SDHC slots? That I think will be another legendary camcorder.

i did a comparison with the Z5 side by side and they perform rather similarly from eye balling. Haven had the time to put the footage together yet.
