Hi there, I have a real beginner question to ask about IR photography and hope I don't get crucified for asking.

But before I post the question I want to qualify that I've been reading lots about IR photography and been through numerous web site and "Sticky Threads" but I've not found my answer yet so here it goes.......

"I'm thinking of using my Sony NEX VG-10 to do IR Photo/Video, so I've used a TV remote to test the IR capabilities of the VG-10. The good news is that I can see the IR light flashing from the TV remote , BUT the problem is instead of a clear blinding "White" light, I see a mild "RED" light flashing.

Question: In your camera selection for IR photography, has any of the IR shooters came across this scenario where, the IR preventive measures in the camera, is not total, but partial just like what i've described above....and If I do go ahead to use the NEX VG-10, what are the implications wif regards to the IR photographs produced??

My apologies, it is actually two questions instead of one.....Anyone care to enlighten me?

check out mod 1. if u can see that red dot, it means ur safe to do IR

From the test that you have conducted, your equipment is definitely able to shoot still ir images. But it will have to be a long exposure shot, which could also means, having to mount it on a tripod.
