ok first there's this article, which says:

Speaking exclusively to AP, Sony's UK product manager for digital SLRs Paul Genge said that the new Sony-branded lenses will bear 'a strong resemblance' to past lenses from Minolta and Konica Minolta...
Sony's new lenses will be announced later this year and 'into 2007', according to Genge who said that Sony intends to build up a 'strong portfolio'.

and then there's this thread.

one of the posters says that he has seen the lens list, and it includes most of the primes, high end stuff like the 70-200 ssm, and some new lenses, like a 24-70 2.8 ssm

how reliable? aiyah just read for fun until the news is out lor.

Not surprice as Koncaminolta Japan will still produce Lens for Sony. Most will be pro Lenses or Minolta G Lens. Sony may contract Tamron to produce consumer grade zoom Lens. All will be rebrand to Sony sell by Sony so I guess the price will be Sony also.

it was said long time ago Sony will be bringing 11 lenses under their name. most likely 7-8 old lenses, refurbished/redesigned? and probably the remaining 3-4 new lenses? i think we can expect about 3-4 ssm lenses.

I hope what aarif says is right. But then... even if the 24-70 SSM and 70-200 SSM come out again, I don't have $ to buy

QX

I heard they will have some Carl Zeis lens in the line up. I suppose Tamaron and Minolta will be making some lens for them also.

Sony's experience losing Beta to JVC's VHS is bitter. No more Mr. Nice Guy. No more open sharing.
Most likely new lenses will be proprietary and protected to prevent other makes from using their digicams and lenses meaningfully. It may mean existing Minolta equipment owners locked out until they buy Sony SLR digicam and new Sony digiSLR lenses.

Sony is going back to A-mount if u didn't read before. So basically, noone is losing the old equipment. FYI.

I hope theres a 135 G(D) STF SSM lens!

I was at Photo Imaging show today in Sydney...

a little bit dissapointed when I am on Sony stand, no one (sales rep) have any idea nor showing any interest with the "ALPHA". When I ask them, they either don't have the knowledge or just tell me to look at the range that they have...

They are just bunch of sales rep who don't even take pictures...

Ah.. anyway...

Good if that is the case.
FYI a mount can be the same but the electronics (contacts and internal programming of hardware) can be different.
Wait and see what happens.

Are you a KM user ? If you are, then hope to see you in B&B. If you are not, why the concern ? ;)

http://www.dpreview.com/news/0604/06042001sonyalphaslr.asp

As quoted from the site ", in addition to overall product miniaturization. People who have already made investments in many of Konica-Minolta’s lenses and accessories will be able to take full advantage of Sony’s new D- SLR cameras."

So it is pretty obvious Sony won't build any thing differently. Else it will be shooting at her own feets.

worry not :) Sony has confirmed the new lenses to be 100% compatibility with existing Dynax 5D/7D, as well as new DSLRs with existing Minolta lenses.

SSM mean AF? I would like it to be around 85mm though.

my preference for the portrait lens...the wider the better....like the 35mm f/1.4 ;p

dunno if 24 is a typo, maybe it's still 28-70. but if ssm, will solve 2 things with this lens, not so fast AF, and noisy. but it doesn't solve the biggest problem $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$

I would love it if Sony can make an AF+SSM version of the STF :)
