Specs very exciting until you get to the lens. 29mm is just not wide enough and f2.8-4.5 is rather disappointing. Was really hoping they'd manage a constant 2.8 or at least f2-2.8

Essentially the same lens and sensor as the AX100 and CX900 but with 4:2:2 XAVC codec.

This was the model i alluded to during the BCA thread. According to my source, it is suppose to be constant f2.8 throughout. But who knows.... We will see abt that.
This is meant to be a "pro" model and will replace nx70p. List of goodies include xlr, 3 stage ND, hdmi and SDI out, duo SD slot. It is 4k "ready" - i suppose what that means is that the 4k feature will be enabled further down the road.

Now the part of the puzzle for me is to edit XAVC in FCP7.... How do you guys do it?

Sorry guys. My sources were wrong. Lens is variable aperture. No constant f2.8. Damn!
But the unit is solid! They basically just combined CX900 with Ax100 and NX70.

Will be available in approx 2 months time.
Suggested retail abt S$2800!

And the top XLR handle could almost fit onto the A7s.... Didnt try forcing. Was told that they will be coming out with a direct XLR handle to sit on top of the A7s!

Thanks for the tip-off. I have half a mind to sugru a coldshoe on my A7s! If the X70 price is $2800, I will consider getting it as it's only marginally more than my current set up of CX900+ XLR-KM1 + sugru coldshoe. haha

Ok. Me sua ku. Didnt know what is sugru. Check it out... Awesome product! Is it rubbery enuf to use as isolation for mic?

F2.8 to f4. I really wished they had kept it constant. The digital zooms are pretty good liao. So i dont mind trading some range for f stop.

Did i mention that this cam is more on the beefy side. Ok, maybe i am gettung old. Weight Does help with stabiliation. But it also feels front heavy. Will need a large battery to balance it.

Most operations are pretty standard. No touch screen though.

High gain is pretty impressive. Tops at 33db. Not sure whats the equivalent ISO. With f4, you will need that gain.

Another nice touch is cam wakes
up when u flip open the screen. Is this a recent Sony thing?

Tons of picture profile setting. Happy to see that it includes Black levels, knee, flatter cinema profiles.

Does the xlr km1 chew thru batteries? I am concern pairing with a7s. It already has a really small batt liao.

Sugru is similar to silicone. If you compact it, it is about as hard as a rubber ball. If you roll into strand, it is maleable (bendable) but not very ductile (stretchable). I have used it to repair the shockmount on the Senny MKE400 and antenna on the Senny G3.

I'm surprised the X70 has no touchscreen! NX70 and CX900 both have touchscreen that function very well.
But neither have options for picture profile.
CX900 noise is acceptable until 24db. But the low light is so good that in most lit auditoriums the gain remains at 0 db on auto exposure.

I didn't notice any significant difference on battery life when using the XLR-KM1 with the A7s. But that's because I didn't turn on phantom power on the unit. I would expect a big hit on battery if 48V PP is constantly drawn.

Which mic were u using with the xlr km1? Or running in wireless lav?

So far, I've only been using the Senny G3. Maybe a AA battery powered XLR shotgun would go better than phantom powered ones

Cool.. Readthat it was 4K ready.. Does that mean it's a 4K sensor?

Hi Bamboo, understand that CX900 have a touch screen. Are u able to activate and select AF points by touching the screen?
Also, can u do remote viewing and controls from android phones for video shoot?

Yes and Yes

Heard very intersting stuff announcing at IBC. First they release 5dmk3 killer in NAB. Next they are going after C100/300.

any review on this pro cam?
