Hi all,

I am currently using a small handycam Sony DCR-PC105.. Its nice, handy, small unit which is pleasure to use while travelling..

I am thinking of upgrading to a newer technology unit.. Which of these units is better in tems of picture quality, colors, contrast, low light shots..

I noticed that while Sony one is HD cam with 1/2.9" CMOS Sensor. The Panasonic unit is a 3CCD unit with 1/4.7" x 3CCDs.

Does the larger CCD result in better video quality..

thanks in advance
Andy

yes but it also depends on the processor chip and other functions. maybe the experts here can elaborate further.

Hi,

I saw in a online review posted by some guy who owns a new pana 3ccd and his std pana he found that the 3ccd of Pana is not that well under dim light and in outdoor it is very good compared to some other models.

If you have the pana catalog for DV you may notice the 3ccd ones have lesser sensitivity compared to the other models.

I use the sdrh 250 3 ccd and I find under low light the pana has a lot of noise and I went to buy a flash. outdoor and under good lighting the colors are very nice.

Hope it helps.
