I suggest reading the lens reviews on sites like photozone.de as well.

Personally, I prefer the 50mm f/1.8 on APS-C. The bokeh is nicer than the 50mm f/1.4

Yah if one using APS-C, don't waste too much $$ on the full frame lens

You may consider Sigma 10-20mm F4-5.6 instead. It is cheaper. If you doing landscape, you will seldom go below F8.
Sigma has a 50 F1.4 which supposed to be better than the Sony 50 F1.4. Like Rashke has advised, you will be better off with Sony 50 F1.8
