Sony A55/A33 Firmware upgrade.

Pretty disappointing update IMHO... The extra Fx aren't that fantastic, and aren't what I'm really interested in... most of the time if I wanted fancy effects I'll just go with my iPhone instagram... or just do post processing with Aperture (you get much more control over the output, they also have a few presets I could apply in one click)

only thing that interested me was the addition of support for wireless HSS flash and maybe the DRO button reassignment. Even so, the DRO button can only be assigned to a couple of features, and not everything ( I want to assign it to handle AF/metering stuff...)

Hi,

I did the firmware upgrade yesterday night at 11pm. I'd like to share the experience.

I very nearly 'bricked' my A55. The updating stopped halfway thru the installation. The A55 has now stopped responding.
I followed the instruction on what to do:
Use Windows 'Safely Remove Hardware (failed, somehow windows won't allow it so I skipped this part)
Remove battery, don't unplug the usb cable.
Turn camera on.
Reboot the software and run the update.

I did this countless times till it was 12.30am. Each time it failed. Every time it stopped halfway.
I even unplug the usb cable and changed to another port, which is worse cos now it doesn't even run the update.
So I have to plugged it back to the original port and run the update again.

My A55 wasn't responding anymore. It was essentially dead, stopped midway during firmware update.
Could it be my 3rd party battery? Nope. My M42 len (LOL, nope)

My heart was pounding, hand was shaking.
I was already contemplating on sending my camera to Sony Service Centre today when I gave it a last try.
I turn off my laptop webstorage services and Asus Liveupdate.
Oh yeah, my daughter gave me a goodnight hug.

And then, the progress bar keep on rising until finally, firmware update complete. Ver. 2.0:bsmilie:

then i die liao lor.. i no daughter...

Ask someone else to hug u lor ~
