Hey guys, to be very honest, i'm a noob at RF but i wanna get started with it (i was drawn in by the looks of if) but have no idea how and i haven't gotten one yet. I've got a budget of about $300.00 currently and it would be awesome if you guys can advise me on the type of camera i should get.

Also, what kind of film should i use to complement the type of RF?

Thanks alot! :)

You can look at some of the fixed lens rangefinders like the Canonet QL17, Olympus XA or the Yashica 35 line. You can look here for some stuff on rangefinders.

ya... get a fixed-lens RF..... try looking at B&S section..... might have afew canonet, yashica on sale once in awhile....

May I suggest the Minolta Hi-matic 7s too....

Any kind of film is fine, although I personally tend to use b&w film when shooting with a rangefinder. A fixed lens type is good for your budget... and these typically have 35-45mm focal length - so not much difference in there.

One consideration would be the battery type, as some of these 70's RFs use obsolete batts. Another is weight. I recommend the Olympus XA as it is cheap, light, uses current batts and you can get the dedicated A11 flash together with it

Hey thanks for the tips guys.

As for the battery for the yashica electro 35, is there anywhere that i can get it from?
