aside from the oly master, what other software would i possibly need? i was thinking of a stitch for panos, one for raw processing..

what else?

Silkypix takes the cake for RAW processing.

Maybe i can hijack this thread to ask a question since its somehow related to softwares..

Is there any softwares to 'defish' a photo taken from a fisheye lens?

PTLens

You can use it standalone or as a PS Plugin

You can try the trial version firs and the Licence for the full version only costs US$15.00

SilkyPix 3 (ver. 3.0.10.1) can now convert E-510 ORF by the way even though it is not officially on the supported list. The output is far better than both Master 2 and ACR from my experience. ;)

We were just kidding around and mincing words...:)

PS Elements is basically a simplified version of CS. It's like comparing Windows XP Pro and Home versions. The latest Elements v5.0 has a lot of functions similar to CS2, curves being one of them. I've tried v5.0 but am sticking to v3.0 because I'm already so used to the interface, layout and functions and I can work more effieicntly that way.

I don't like to spend too much time post processing although I know it can really help to bring life to an image that would otherwise be considered an "acceptable snapshot".

But for hobbyist like me, price is an important factor and case in point, Elements is almost half the price of CS. ;p

I suppose I'm too serious sometimes, oops. :o :D

Almost half? Lucky you. $89 for Elements 4/5 or $649 for Photoshop or $199 for the upgrade.

I did find Elements 4.0 more useful than version 3.0 simply because the red eye processing actually works.

I thought PS CS had cheaper OEM (no box) or "Student Edition" versions?

I got my elements V3.0 @ S$115.00 a couple of years ago.
Tried elements v5.0 as a free trial download from the web.

I suppose it's possible to find old software but I don't usually see Adobe products after they've been replaced. They always seem to be returned to Adobe. Maybe, it's something specific to the U.S.A. I wished that it was possible to find the CS2 Premium upgrade because the software mix was much better than CS3.

You could get the whole CS/CS2 suite in a student version for US$399. I've no idea about CS3.
