SmallHD monitor batteries..

Hey guys,

I'm shooting on a GH2/GH3 system and now looking at SmallHD's monitors.

Now the thing that has got me pondering is what kind of battery mount should I buy for it? Which batteries are the most reliable? I do not currently own any Canon, Sony or Panasonic cameras which use these batteries.

These are the mounts that are available.

AC7 Battery Plate Mounting Bracket (Add $59.99)
Anton Bauer QRC-DIGITAL Battery Plate for the AC7 (Add $124.99)
AC7 Canon 5D/7D LP-E6 Battery Bracket
Add $59.99)
AC7 Panasonic CGA-D54 Battery Bracket (Add $59.99)
AC7 Sony NEX-VG10 NP-FV Battery Bracket (Add $59.99)

Any idea if any of those can mount a V-Mount battery?

Price is secondary to performance (but of course, I wouldn't fork out for the Anton Bauer one.. Haha) so I would appreciate if anyone could help me out here!

From what I can gather, there's no official V-mount option.

From there it really depends on your budget. They're all reliable batteries but with different costs.

LP-E6s are rated at 1800mAH, the bracket allows 2 pieces so 3600mAH, and is hot-swappable according to smallHD. Costs about $90? a piece. Third party ones are also available.

CGA-D54s are rated at 5400mAH, 2pcs = 10800mAH, also hot-swappable. Costs about 179USD according to BH, but of course you can get third party ones at a cheaper price which I have no info on.

NP-FVs are rated at 1030mAH for FV50, 2060mAH for FV70 and 3900mAH for FV100. Costs from 40USD to 100USD according to Amazon. Third party also available.

Then next thing you have to consider are the chargers, which I believe by now you can go look it up yourself.

Things to note also are your resale values.

That was helfpul, thanks for the quick response! :D
