SLR lenses

After shooting with 50mm for 99% of the time, I've switched to the 35mm focal length(I'm using a Nikkor 35/f2.8 AI-s). One thing I hate about it I the lack of focusing range, it goes from 0.3m-2m-infinity. Would be nice if it goes up to 5m

Not sure what you mean? I use the 35mm F2 AFD.

Oh I mean it's very hard to play around with the DOF if the subject is more than 2m away. I've just discovered that 35mm is terrible at making close up portraits too....

How bad could it be? I used 28mm for portraits since its the only lens I have on my slr

The face will look a little more "rounded", doesn't look flattering at all unless you want a comical look. I've got a Nikkor series E 100/f2.8, shall try shoot some portraits with that

Usually 50mm Lens are standard lens. You can try getting some zoom lens 28 or 35 to 70mm should good enought for most situation.Though most zoom lens has poorer bokeh and needs longer exposure time under low light...

Hi Riotbmx,

It took me a while to get used to wide angle lenses as they tend to stretch the perspective between two objects at different distances from the lens. But you can avoid "rounding" the face with careful use.

By the way, the 100mm E series rocks with its performance and (non) weight.
