From a G2 to a Digital SLR you say? :)
Well, whats your budget like? I'm pretty sure someone here can help. Would you be sticking to Canon or Nikon? Do reply so that we can have a better idea what to recommand. :)

If you can get your hands on a D60... that's my advise... but there's rumours flying around that it's been discontinued, so you might wanna wait until Canon reveals the newer models at PMA 2003.

But then... the new models might not be available in SG immediately after too... so... assuming there's still D60s around, price will probably drop a bit... and I bet there'll be a few sellers selling off their D60s to upgrade... so... my recommendation --> D60!!!

Okay, My budget is around 3.5-4.5K.But need to let go G2
first as it's only 5 months old camera. How about Fujifilm
S2 Pro?? I'm thinking of geting S2 pro,D60 or D100.Any good
advise frm the user ???Tks!!

Since you have the Canon Speedlite 420EX, why don't you stick to Canon, and pick up a Canon D60 at around S$3500 (body)

ahh...must also factor in the cost of the lens.......
cos if i'm not mistaken...the camera package does not include lens....

Personnally I don't really see the problem in getting a discontinued model. Cos you still get the same service that canon is providing. The other time when I check on the canon film SLR in UK, the service support department said that they normally discontinue a model after 5 years from launch but they still produce it replaceable parts for another 3-5 years which normally last them for 10 years after the model discontinued. So Even if you get a brand new discontinue model I guess the warranty still valid.
Even that I not a canon fans, but I still would say D60 is a very good digital SLR.

ehh..guess it's not oni abt the parts...
it's abt the price......

Personally, I think that having the 420EX should not be a consideration for sticking to Canon.

The cost of the new body+ entire lens system will far outweigh the savings in sticking to the same flash. Better to select based on one's own needs and preferences rather than be hindered by equipment at hand.

BUY BUY BUY !!

:D :rbounce: :rbounce:

dont let the 420EX holds you down. u can start a total new system..be it canon, fuji, sigma or nikon.... i'm sure u can find some sample photos taken by our fellow clubsnappers....take a look at it....

If starting from scratch & based on the upper limit of your budget (plus after selling your G2 I assume), you can get a D100 (approx. $3600), SB80DX (approx. $550) & 24-85mm AFS lens (approx. $550) to begin with. Also assume you already have some Compact Flash cards to use with it.

Actually all the DSLRs you menitoned are good & have their own pros & cons. It's just a matter of personal preference really. You need to do some research on them & try to get some hands-on to decide for yourself.
