Hi guys again, posted the wrong model previously. Anyway was considering between t2205x vs t2204x. Understand the diff is minimum. Onli folded length, height, n weight difference. And its just a bit. It seems like t2204x is more attractive as its slightly lighter though its 4 cm longer when folded.

I m not sure which is better as price is the same. As tis is my first tripod, wanna get some advice from the seniors here n get some insights tat i might hav missed out.

Tks a lot seniors for ur input.

I was considering these two models before I made up my mind with the T2205X. The 4cm can be quite significant when you are trying to squeeze your tripod into your bag. And you need to consider the extra length of your ball-head.

Anyway Sirui's legs are quite sturdy IMO, even for the smallest section. So I chose the 5 section over the 4 section tripod.

Do consider that having 5 sections means there are 4 catches per leg. Imagine having to release 12 catches every time you wanna deploy the tripod to maximum height

Although you will only need 15 twists to deploy if you know how to do it properly.

Saw the salesman do it when he demoed the tripod. I was quite impressed. :)
Having said that I use as few sections as is possible most of the time and tend to sit down if the area is reasonably clean.

I want to do more shots when I dun even have to twist a single knob :p

I believe that's the way most people do it. :D

Anyway their twist are easy, probably a quarter twist will secure the legs already.

i still see ppl do the 24 twists some times. Find it damn amusing :)

just curious how you arrived at the value of 15 :)

Since we are talking about a 5 sections tripod.

1 twist on each leg for all 4 knobs to release the legs - 3 twists
4 twists on each leg to tighten - 12 twists.

Add them together makes 15.

If you are accurate in loosening knobs, you can also undeploy the tripod with 15 twists.

ahhh I see... there is a "quick release" method to loosen all 4 sections (of a single leg) with a single twist?
interesting...

Deathegg, haa this i agree with u, yes even for the smallest section, it looks thin but its actually very stable. In fact i've tested both of them. somehow i find the t2205x more stable. there is a reason behind it. coz for t2204x, the base spread of the tripod is too wide. when u apply pressure on the ballhead downwards using ur hands, u'll observe that there is some movement and the legs will stretch a bit further whereas the other model will stay put.

but well thats what i have discovered. in any case, i think both are very good tripods. best is u go down again, and try out the tripods urself. buy the one that u feel most comfortable with.

cheers!

This does not only apply to sirui legs. Any brand tripod that use twist knob instead of flip knob can do this. Do note that if you have strong fingers and grip, you can do the same got flip knob as well. Just that twisting with a full palm is much easier than flipping with fingers.

Overall, it's a tip I teach my newbie friends when they are choosing tripod.
