Hi,

Recently, I shot the only local mainstream paintball tournament, Singapore Paintball Series 2014 - Leg 1.

[video=youtube_share;vaHRDSAHotg]http://youtu.be/vaHRDSAHotg[/video]

What is so special about this leg is that :-

- The tournament welcomed couple of teams from around the region as far as Guam.
- 2 teams from Thailand, 1 team from Malaysia and Brunei respectively and 1 team from Guam.
- With their addition, they just spiced things up.

But for me, personally, it is the export settings that drives me crazy. I have exported and uploaded quite a number of video with different settings. This one gives me a better quality when playing back in Full Screen. Even when I followed YouTube advance settings, the playback in Full Screen is still quite bad.

Soon, I will share in this thread about my experience exporting different settings and their results. In the meantime, do enjoy the paintball action from the local paintball scene.

;)

I uploaded some samples.

This video, I exported using YouTube Advance Settings.

Here is the link >>> https://support.google.com/youtube/answer/1722171?hl=en

My export settings are :-

Basic Video Settings
- TV Standard = PAL system
- Frame Width by Frame Height = 1280 by 720
- Frame Rate = 59.94fps
- Field Order = None (Progressive)
- Pixel Aspect Ratio = Square Pixels
- Profile = High
- Level = 3.2
- Render At Maximum Depth = Checked
Bitrate Settings
- Bitrate Encoding = VBR2
- Target Bitrate [Mbps] = 5
- Maximum Settings [Mbps] = 8
- Key Frames Distance = 2 Frames
- Use Maximum Render Quality = Checked
Audio Settings
- Codec = AAC
- Output Channels = Stereo
- Frequency = 48kHz
- Audio Quality = High
- Bitrate Settings = 192
- Advance Settings = Bitrate

Seriously, I don't like the quality. I am using what YouTube recommends.

I did another one without Max Render Quality.

Here are my settings :-

Basic Video Settings
- TV Standard = PAL system
- Frame Width by Frame Height = 1280 by 720
- Frame Rate = 59.94fps
- Field Order = None (Progressive)
- Pixel Aspect Ratio = Square Pixels
- Profile = High
- Level = 3.2
Code:
- Render At Maximum Depth = Checked ** Removed
Bitrate Settings
- Bitrate Encoding = VBR2
- Target Bitrate [Mbps] = 5
- Maximum Settings [Mbps] = 8
Code:
- Key Frames Distance = 2 Frames ** Removed
- Use Maximum Render Quality = Checked ** Removed
Audio Settings
- Codec = AAC
- Output Channels = Stereo
- Frequency = 48kHz
- Audio Quality = High
- Bitrate Settings = 192
- Advance Settings = Bitrate

Still, I am not happy with the quality. It is as though I shot with my handphone.

i did one test here
http://www.clubsnap.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1343755

i think your level need to increase for better quality, and then also increase bitrate - my settings now usually about [target 25] and [max 50], but i decide to do just 1-pass (coz 2-pass take too long)

why 59.94fps? was that the original fps from camera?

btw, my friend told me not to use the pc for other stuff when exporting - in order to get optimal output

So....

After much of experimenting and export quite a number of possible export settings. I think I have found the possibly best export settings for video clips shot in 60fps.

There are things that you need to take note. I can be wrong about these factors. I am trying to match the original source as well.

1. YouTube compression [60fps to 25fps]
- YouTube did mentioned that to upload 60fps as their compression can handle it. But, to my personal opinion and my eyes, the compression is quite bad.
- So, when you edit, edit them in 60fps sequence and export them in 25fps. Thus, the compression is made by your program instead of YouTube.

2. Raw Videos bitrate
- Take note of your raw video bitrate.
- You can do this by right click your video clip, look under details. The bitrate will be shown.
- So when you export, adjust the bitrate according to your video clips average. Find the min and max bitrates.

3. Do Not Render at Max Depth
- If you shot in 60fps and did a lot of grading or treatment, I would suggest not to check this option.
- This option is good when your video footages are shot in 25fps. I don't see any problems with my wedding videos with this option selected.

Basic Video Settings
- TV Standard = PAL system
- Frame Width by Frame Height = 1280 by 720
- Frame Rate = 59.94fps
- Field Order = None (Progressive)
- Pixel Aspect Ratio = Square Pixels
- Profile = High
- Level = 3.2

Bitrate Settings
- Bitrate Encoding = VBR2
- Target Bitrate [Mbps] = 32
- Maximum Settings [Mbps] = 50
- Use Maximum Render Quality = Checked

Audio Settings
- Codec = AAC
- Output Channels = Stereo
- Frequency = 48kHz
- Audio Quality = High
- Bitrate Settings = 192
- Advance Settings = Bitrate

You can see the video quality in the very first post. Honestly, I believe this problem that I faced is only for video shot at 60fps. I am using the same settings Vimeo. It has much better compression. It looks way much better when playback at full screen.

pettypoh>>> Even your youtube quality is so much better than mine. I did refer to your thread while experimenting. I have no problems with my wedding videos. It is only my paintball videos. Every uploads and my past paintball videos gave different results even though I am using the same presets. Seriously, I don't have any problems with Vimeo.

I am suspecting that YouTube cannot compressed 60fps beautifully. Unlike, Vimeo, they won't compress upload 60fps to web 60fps. They will compress to 30fps.
