I've got a question for 10D users. Are the following out-of-the-box lenses compatible with the new digital body ?

1) Sigma 17-35 F2.8-4 HSM bought in 2002
2) Sigma 70-200 F2.8 HSM bought in Jan 2003.

Thanks.

Hi kiwitan,

I'm using Canon 10D and 70 - 200mm F2.8 Sigma HSM. There is no issue in the focusing. Works perfectly.

my 70-200mm work ok but 17-35mm did not work. now in the shop waiting for new circuit board. sigma said mine is old shipment, so cannot work.

I just got word from Sigma Marketing yesterday (the lady called Sigma Japan personally after I kept pestering her) that there IS an upgrade chip to make the Sigma 105 EX Macro lens compatible with the EOS 10D, and it will arrive sometime next week.

Hooray!

In what way is the Sigma 105mm EX Macro incompatible with the 10D? I have one and did not seem to have any problem using it with my 10D. :what:

The older versions (> 1-2 years) of this lens quite consistently give an "Error 99" with the 10D when used at any aperture other than f2.8. This was a problem with the EOS 30 as well, from what I understand. See dpreview.

The newer lenses would have addressed the problem with an upgraded chip, before being sold. In other words, yours is probablu a relatively new lens. Sigma's policy is to upgrade your lens chip for free if you find any compatibility problems with newer camera models.
