Sigma 24-70mm f2.8 - anyone use this before?

well one thing i noticed about the new sigma lenses, including the 50mm f1.4, is that its sharp out of the box, no calibration needed. i dunno why the canon camp always have problems with sigma lens but us sony doesnt.

i just got the HSM one a few hours ago. i never used the older version before, but having used the CZ version a few times, i can say, the sigma can give the CZ a good run for its money. its definitely not as contrasty and sharp as the CZ, but its definitely a winner. for 1.4k this lens is really a real bang for buck. i wouldnt call this a poor man's CZ. more like a baby CZ. lol.

Congratulations! Heh. Well I guess it must be a BIG baby - 82mm front filter!

Forgot to mention that this could be a factor for some. I used to buy 77mm filters because I though these would be as big as I'd be using, so spent a small fortune on CP-L, ND400 and even IR. Now I can't use them on this lens anymore, which is quite a pain.

hmm a 82mm B+W MRC UV costs 120 bucks, its not as expensive as some might think lol.

although i might try the hoya HD instead, i like to test new stuffs haha.

here are some photos, taken using A850, landscape cstyle, fine jpegs. default settings and no pp/sharpening done. all taken at f2.8 at mostly 24mm.

sun is quite harsh today lol.

Very nice bro... pictures are very sharp. Vignetting is very well controlled too at the wide end of the focus range. :bigeyes: :bigeyes:
