Sigma 18-50mm

I am wondering if tis Sigma 18-50mm f2.8 lens is good? was looking for a walk about lens like the Sigma 18-125mm f3.5-5.6.

Anyone have them, howz the pictures? or should i wait to get the Minolta 18-200mm f5-6.3?

For minolta mount, need to place order. This lens is very capable from what I read so far from Canon's forums, but seems like having focusing problem when used with 7D. I'm still waiting for some good news before I order for one.

Price is somewhere 850+/-

I think its the best choice around for all brand at the moment. Unless I need a standard zoom urgently, I will wait for the next generation.. still want a 16-50/2.8

months ago, saw it at camera workshop. cost about $1200, can't really remember. need to ask them again.....

No need to order from US, can order from SG retail also. At least you've the chance to test and check the condition.

If u are using full frame, then ditch the Sigma, terrible edge distortion especially wide. The Minolta seems better... I think Drudkh has yet to post the 3 shots using the Minolta 17-35 f/2.8-4, Minolta 17-35 f/3.5 G and Sigma 17-35 f/2.8-4 EX. We did a comparo during one of the first gatherings at Loft Foodcorut in Marina Sq some months back with YuHsuan who has the G lens.

i think minolta will only follow tamron lens only..so far all the same..

tamron 11-18mm $about 900...minolta will be lower...
