cheers...
Wow, you got one already?!!
This poison spreads very fast.
All very nice shots, Kross.
The pictures look really nice, but they are not the signature of the Nikkor 5cm. More like a Summarit or Summar.
Thanks man!
well no choice, poison very potent... besides, i'm way behind the Q for yours so i guess i
just go hunt for 1.;p LTM copies can be pretty hard to find!! mine doesn't have the black ring
though... anyway, it's the characteristic of the lens that i'm interested in....
thanks hacker....
eh....what should the signature of a nikkor 5cm be? u mean the flare aka "glow" or the
bokeh?![]()
Hello kross... are all these shot wide open at f1.4? I see the same characteristics on my Nikkor 5cm f1.4 S.C for the Nikon S mount as well (silver barrel), but only when wide open. Stop down a stop or two and it will tend to be more "normal". Since the Nikkors around this age are quite well coated I doubt your lens elements are badly scratched or has excessive wipe marks like Leicas of the same era.
.....................
5cm should be sharp in the center with very pleasant bokeh further out to the frame. The lens is nice, but the glow seems too much, more like a lens with lots of scrathes (giving it the soft look) rather than from the design of the lens itself. It should be like your last picture. The ssecond picture has too much also (on the scissors).
Nothing wrong, but seems like a Summar or Summarit which gives that kind of rendering (they often have no coating), adding to some flare.
haha..... me too thanks to you!! here's the example of for wide open and stopping down 1 stop at f2...Ya, Mine glows like that at f1.4 only. I think it is the characteristic of the lens. At f2.0, it is sharp! I love the "GLOW"
thanks brian.... i'm very happy with the nikkor coz it can use on any film or sensor and still gives that "glow" (i think)....haha...Hello kross... are all these shot wide open at f1.4? yup, f1.4
Summarit 5cm f1.5 though... I dont know what to say. At first I thought it glows a lot, but recent few rolls showed that shooting into bright light source it flares more than it glows. Like there's excessive internal reflection causing the photo to whiten out... Doesn't look like it comes out dreamy like the photos in this thread. Disclaimer: I'm still trying to understand the Summarit, and I can tell you, to create the Nikkor look, shoot Summarit with Lucky SHD100 film!...![]()

Looks like NY, NY in Taipei...like 15 min from my apartment![]()
YepI believe the scene you're talking about is the starbucks @ NY NY right?
Kross, another lens that glows quite nicely at f1.4 is Summilux35mm(pre-asph). Saw the glow when I tried Camera23's during the 35mm test! A brand new Titanium one is on its way.:lovegrin::sweat:
gommy ah gommy.... double poison ah?:sweatsm:
Yes! double poison. But the glow of Lux35mm is more subtle.....nice too!
