I am very impress with 5DMKII DSLR video quality.

Should canon be the first to produce a auto focus prosumer camcorder with it interchangeble EF Lens?
Forget all the 35mm DOF adapter. 5DMKII can get it done, i am sure they can come out it with camcoder.

Of course. Canon has everything it takes, it's just whether they want to do it or not, and risk other segments of the market.

Make it a single large CCD and perhaps even 1.6x crop so it can take EF-S (since they do not always need the full frame). A sensor that big with 1920x1080 full HD res would have incredible resistance to noise with today's technology. Unfortunately that noise resistance may be needed since EF/EF-S lenses are typically not as fast as their video counterparts. My HF100 for example, goes all the way to f/1.8 in its fairly large 12x optical zoom. I can't imagine my EF 100-400 doing the same.

Canon can already crunch 1080i with their video Digic processor down to 24 or 17Mbps in AVCHD. Dual SD card slots for 16 + 16GB would be neat too.

I suspect it would not be cheap though, and it would be geared at pros.

No la bro, i am too feel very awkward using DSLR for my video work.
What i am try to convey here is that, canon has the technology that can produce a new camcorder which can use their current EF lens. And why not? I am sure they could be the first to do that right?

i think when it comes to video cameras, the sensor sizes are smaller than those on dslrs, and so it's cheaper to produce the lenses that can go all the way to f/1.8.

Canon should come out with a video camera that can do everything the 5DII can do. I bet most of these cam/vid companies know the technology is there and relatively easy to implement but are just wary of collapsing the market segments into one large marketplace. But they might be forced to, with the global slowdown, and the current market saturation, to introduce something to entice consumers to buy.

For your information, there are Canon video cameras using 3x1/3" CCD with XL mount interchangeable video lenses. EF lenses can be used with adapter, in manual focus and 7.2x crop factor.

XL2 which replaces XL1S and XL1, XL1 launched 1998.

XLH1 for high definition

The only other video format that comes close to APS-C size capture area is 35mm film used in movies, the film strips run vertically, each frame dimension is about 24 x 1x mm. I think the largest sensors used for video should be only 2/3".
