hmm, can't edit in this section?

edit: the sigma 50 is 703 before tax claims, not 730.

even if you can't get to claim taxes, its still overall cheaper.

been to Tokyo and Osaka a few times....... 1 advise.... DONT go there for price savings, it might be cheaper sometimes but not always

GO TO JAPAN to buy stuff you cannot or rare to find elsewhere. Picked up a few large format press cameras from the 60s and 70s there as well as some 690 medium format cameras and weird and novelty camera accessories

any reason why not to get price savings? they sell you defective lens?

i dunno, but if you go by kakaku which everyone points at, its obviously cheaper by a significant margin.

Yes, I fully agree with you on this...!!!
In Japan u can find many rare camera....;)

ok, now i'm confused. certain jap sites give exorbitant prices but some seem pretty reasonable? kakaku for one, seems quite ok. any feedback on reliability of kakaku's prices?

hi, just note that on kakaku its a consolidation of prices from shops all over.

clicking a on product shows the various price listings of the shop. click on shop name to see where the shop is selling it at the given price.

i think its possible to get good prices in japan, but just be cautious. if you are really concerned, then buy SG to get local warranty.

feedback after your visit!

just to clarify, the warranty typically given in japan is not international warranty?

interesting. is lens not cover by international warranty? i'm thinking of buying my 1740L there if is cheaper.

By the way, tax claim is it i collect receipt from hokkaido, kyoto and tokyo then when i'm coming back home, claim at narita airport?is it for all purchases or what?

can advise? sorry. my 1st time there.

i just saw kakabu..85L is like 2.6k sgp only..cheaper than singapore before price hike

No... There's no tax refund at the airport. Tax free shopping only available at certain shops/departmental stores. You claim the tax at the same building after purchase.

Last time i went and collected so many receipts only to realise that there is no tax refund place at the airport. Sucks.

huh!!! not at airport..sorry ah. then if i buy the camera or lens..then claim where?

and how to know which shop can or cannot claim?sorry ahh...i thought like singapore...claim at airport

usually its immediate claim at authorized shops...

so i think once u buy at cheaper prices at the small stores, the price is pretty much what you get... no tax claim.
