Hello everyone,

Has anyone any experience with shooting video using XH-A1 in dimmer indoor area (eg. indoor in flourescent-lit room)?

I use auto setting and it seem quite dark when I zoom in. When i try 'A' mode, the aperture drop to f/3.5 (from f/1.6) when i zoom in to subject.

Is there anything that i can do to the setting for the videocam to handle situation where light source is not enough/dim, so that i can still get a decent clip without using a video light?

I'm setting my gain to 0 (the most to +3) so that i have minimum noise. I'm comparing my shots with a buddy's Sony VX2000e videocam - the Sony can shoot very decent and use-able video even without video light in the above dim surrounding.

Hope someone can help.

Thanks.

Hi hotdrive. Below are the settings for the PFVISION preset, which is the best I have tried for lower light conditions with the XH-A1. To give credit where it is due, this was posted on the DVInfo forum by Randy Panado.

Difficult to beat the VX2000 in low light though, it is the champion!

GAM CINE1
CMX N
HDF L
Black S
Knee L
NR1 off
NR2 off
CGN 25
RGN 48
GGN 49
BGN 50
SHP 9
SET -9
COR 9

Everything else zero.

It is called PFVISION (PanaFilm Vision).

Oh and if you need it a bit brighter you can change the gamma setting to Normal which brightens the midtones by at least one stop.

Thanks jaegersing. I will try out this preset.

Tried this preset. It looks much better now. And the VX2000 is trully the champion.

Thanks again jaegersing.
