Shooting for a wedding... Thoughts??

I would just take the 35mm film camera.. skip the hassey... too much trouble, too bulky, etc..

I've shot my friend's ROM with a Nikon FE2 before using Kodak Ultramax 400. Quite interesting look and definitely looks different from the official photographer's pics.

Folks,

Helping a buddy shoot for his wedding tomorrow evening. Of course, he will still hire his pro photographer and I am just there to help out with some shots.

Here's my thoughts on the gear to bring:

1. Canon 5dm2 with 24-70 f2.8L lens - Heavy bugger with the battery grip and flash included! Trying to avoid this but I can use my R lux on it with adaptor

2. M8 with VC 35 f1.2. Fast lens but worried not fast enough for dinner setting. In my opinion, anything above ISO320 sucks on the M8 unless I go b&w then I can push it higher.

3. Would prefer to bring a film camera and I do like films!!! besides, it will be nice to do this for my buddy which is something different. Looking at M6 with Canon 50 f1.5 or Leica R4s with 50 lux and slides film. Will ISO400 films be sufficient?

4. Hasselblad 503CW?

What do you guys think? Prefably, I like to keep it slim cos' I would prefer to enjoy the wedding dinner and not lug all these gears around.

I shot a friend's wedding with Leica M4-P before, not as hard as you think. I shot with TriX pushed to iso1600. About the same time I shot the closet genie, which was my very first few time using RF.

Ended up shooting mainly the M8 w VC 35 f1.2. Setup DNG + JPG fine pushed ISO1250.

Frankly, it's not easy to shoot with a RF at the wedding. Do hope my buddy will love the shots.

The RF Viewfinder will white-out, even on the M8. Sometimes, it's hard to catch the moment when you can't see whether you're in focus or not.

No silver effex. Only use Lightroom lightly to do some touch-up. Basically, ISO1250 B&W settings on the M8. The noise is pronounced enough to look like grains on b&w. hahaha
