Shooting at 10 mm

10 mm Ultra Wide Angle

Change to a nikon body so you get a crop factor of 1.5x then a 11-16 would fit your range :P
I don't know if that extra reach is that important. It is an F2.8 lens after all. I use the tokina 12 - 24 and at times i feel the lens is restricted by the F4, but at 12mm i could fit practically everything. I mean unless you go out with a tripod or don't shoot at night then the F2.8 is not important.

I'm the opposite. The extra reach is far more important to me. With a wider lens, I can easily crop or zoom in. The reverse, however, is impossible in 1 take.

As wth most instances of landscape photography, I shoot with small apertures. So large apertures are irrelevant to me.

In any case, I find f/4 quite adequate for most things, including occassional event photography. And I'm on a D70, so I'll have to think twice before increasing the ISO.

The lens is just announced. I don't think it's commercially available yet.

I believe jeff7id meant that he intended to purchase 1 at a future date.

Yes, I meant in the future date. Sorry for misunderstanding :embrass:

And even in IT Show 2010 at the Suntec City Singapore from 11-14 March 2010, Sigma still hasn't sold this lens yet.

A very skewed vote from me for the Sigma f4-5.6
I've not tried out any other UWA zoom
I do have UWA primes though.
To me the Sigma is sharp enough for its purposes.

Do test out for FF/BF issues first though.

Of course choose Sigma 10-20mm f/3.5 EX DC HSM .

1 vote for Sigma AF 8-16mm f/4.5-5.6 DC HSM from me :)

I also in same situation as TS. Also considering between these 3 lens. :)

From the polls, seem that Sigma 10-20 f4-5.6 is tops?

Another vote for the Sigma 10-20mm f4-5.6.

Why is it that I can't vote? :dunno:

If you have logged in and never made a vote before, you should be able to vote.

Previously I have tried Sigma 10-20mm f4-5.6, and quite happy with the lens.

When I created this thread, Sigma 8-16 hadn't been announced yet. Sigma 8-16 is 2mm wider, but has more distortion than Sigma 10-20.

It seems you have to hit 50 posts before you can vote. :embrass:

A lens with that wide a focal length (8-16) means that almost everything you take will be distorted in some way.

The 10-20 has a bit more flexibility in that at the longer focal length, its still quite usable as a normal wide angle.

I just know that we need not less than 50 post to make a vote ...
Yeah, 10-20 mm lens has more flexibility.

With Sigma 10-20mm f4-5.6, the distortion is not so visible at 20 mm (its longest focal length), which is pretty useful.
Compared with Sigma 8-16mm f4.5-5.6, at 16mm (its longest focal length), unfortunately some distortion is still visible there.

For prime lens (fixed focal length), the widest you can go is only 14 mm.
14 mm is the limitation of Ultra Wide Angle lens in Full Frame Body :

Sigma 14mm f2.8 EX Aspherical

Nikon 14mm f/2.8D ED AF

Tamron SP AF14MM F/2.8 Aspherical (IF)

Canon EF 14mm f/2.8L II USM

For Canon and Nikon lens, you can find easily in the market.
For Tamron and Sigma, I am not so sure. Rarely see this lens in Singapore.

13mm. Gosh. That monster. Isn't it like super rare?

Saw a copy of the 15mm in peninsular. Listed at 1.7k.
