Shipping from B&H

Hi,
Not sure if this is the appropriate forum, so apologies if i am wrong. I'm interested in getting a 5D Mark III shipped to Singapore from B&H Photo (unfortunately I don't live in SG so I have to ship to a friend). I'm not clear on customs/duties, so would this be a problem? If anyone has shipped DSLR's to SG from B&H I'd appreciate your feedback.

Thanks!

You will have to pay GST of 7% on a shipment that is more than S$400 (including shipping, handling and insurance charges).

yup. the 5D3 will def incur the 7% GST, your friend will have to pay upon delivery.

Thanks for the update (and for moving my thread to the appropriate forum).

So it looks like I have a choice of paying the equivalent of USD 2900 USD now for the body only or USD 2800 + 7% GST which is around USD 200 + whatever taxes B&H have. So i'm looking at paying a good USD 300 more with the B&H route, but they do have a financing offer of 6 months no interest, which is tempting, but expires today or tomorrow.

Hmm, the conundrum.

If I'm not wrong, this offer is only good for residents in US.

where are you situated currently.

Actually, yes. I just found out that the Bill Me Later option from PayPal is open to US residents only, and I'm in Canada (outside the country at the moment). I guess I will still go with the B&H route, so thanks for the info on the 7% GST
