a little curious about the minimum aperture size we can go to on the LX5 as listed in the specs above.

why is it that the camera can reach F11/F18 in movie recording mode, but in image capture mode, only up till F8?

Aperture: F2.0 - 3.3 / Multistage Iris Diaphragm (F2.0 - 8 (W) / F3.3 - 8 (T))
(F2.0 - 11 (W) / F3.3 - 18 (T) in movie recording)

Maybe because at full resolution diffraction is too obvious? Video is only 1 or 2 MP after all.
