The Sharing A Few Butterflies Series has been very successful due to the viewership
and contribution from fellow photographic aficionados here. Let's continue the tradition
and start the ball rolling with Sharing A Few Butterflies Part IX.

Hi Jane,

Thank you for your contribution!!

I think what you've shot is a Common Posy instead of a Pygmy Posy.

The Pygmy Posy is about 1/3 the size of the Common Posy and has an extended orange submarginal band on the hindwings.

The pair on the left are Pygmy Posies the right is a Common Posy

You can refer to these posts for some Pygmy Posies and how to tell the differences:

Keep shooting!!

Thanks Bluesteel for your information given ;p

Very difficult to know which is which even just by abit of difference. Actually I went to the the link under your signature to check it out before I post haha and who know I get the wrong one :kok:

It just my luck able to shoot this butterfly using my 105mm vr macro lens, chances of shooting butterfly are very low...as Butt just cant keep still ;p

Btw, I cant see the 2 link you provide below, need to sign up? :dunno:

Jane, thanks for your contribution to this thread.

I too started off with the 105, but changed to the T180 and back to 105 + TC2.0 III thereafter. Most of the butt shotters are using the Tamron T180 for the reach and creamy bokeh.

Butterflies are definitely on the move most of the time. But give them some time and patience and they will definitively stop and posed for you. :)

Yep , U need to sign up to be able to view the threads.
