Just some FED 5 shots to share. Constructive C&C most welcome. Pardon for the rather smallish pic size, I grab it from my flickr site. Here goes...

Bro, what lens is this? Seems like a wide-angle 35mm? Some distortion there.

I like the colors, very nicely saturated and old school looking.. ;)

what film did you use?

Hi ZoomP, I am using the Industar I-61L/D which is 53mm range in F2.8, the standard len for FED 5 I think.

Hi pixelbrain, Thanks for your comment. I am using Fujicolor Superia 200. For the monochrome shots I just desaturate it during PP (NB: I am not a monochrome purist yet; I will get there if one day I can develop B/W myself). Managed to get my Sunny 16 metering right after many wasted rolls just to get myself familiarized with this camera. These shots posted are the better ones. The rest cannot make it.

I just noticed that your camera is always tilted to the right :)

must remind myself to go get some of that film!! I really love the color too :)

Thank you, Yapper.

This bro (I'm refering to this camera) is a tad big, blocky and heavy for me to handle, hence the tilt. Shooting with this guy under bright sunlight can heat up all the metal parts which heat up my hands; another minus is I have to estimate for the parallex allowances as I already becaming quite used to SLR viewfinder...

But despite all the deficiencies I do find this camera quite a charm. Its like a time-travelling machine that can bring me into the bygone eras through all the photos it gives ;p

now is going to be mine turn :P ~

He used to gave me lotsa headache before giving me good picture.
Hope he can be gentle to you. Enjoy the process and don't give up!! Sunny 16 rules, remember!

Hi, nice work, did you take all your shots with sunny 16?

Thanks dankwan :)

Yes. I discovered that although the selenium metering is working fine (all reflective meterings inherently are not perfect), Industar lens IQ is a tad contrasty as compared to Jupiter lens from what I read and experienced is true. So after many failed attempts in wasted rolls of film to get to understand its characteristics I have to use sunny 16 to get the feel of the correct exposures I need.

I did also use F22 in some of my shooting repertoir, coz vintage lens do subjected to flare because they are vintage (ie. not coated with hi-tech Super Spectra coating) and this is why I guess I heard some ppl conveniently debunk Russian cameras are crap. Sad.

the shots are really nice! live the color it produces...metering is still working fine i c

Although the in-built metering is working, all the shots are using Sunny 16 rule.
