Seinnheisser MKE 600 as Running Gun?

Hi everyone,

Anyone using the above as a running gun? Does the shock mount that comes w it suffice? Is there a need for alternative shock mount?

Am pairing up w the Sony a7 series.

Your advice is much appreciated.

On a boom, a rubber band mount will be better than the supplied shock mount.
On an A7, using the EVF could be problem as you will need to push the mic forward to avoid poking your forehead behind the hotshoe. This could send your mic into view of a wideangle. A flash bracket will be better place to mount the MKE on camera
Have you considered a Shure VP83F?
It works with any camera, even those without mic input.
Pair with Sony ECM-AW4 for wireless monitoring or recording.
Combined, the VP83F and the AW4 will take care of 99% of contingency situations.
Yet everything fits into small waist pouch and can even be boomed off a selfie stick.

Thanks Bamboo!

Wished i had bought the Sony ECM-AW4. Saw my friend using it and it was so easy.

Yes, you are right about the poking thing. Am using the Sony ECM-CG50 (on loan) and loving it. Trying to push the standard a bit higher... haha

I bought the ECM-AW4 for USD89 from B&H during a promotion. The on-board mic is certainly not as good as a lavalier, but it accepts any 3rd party lavalier you plug into it. You can make a thin transparent lanyard with magician string or fishing line to keep the transmitter out of shot during voxpops The pickup pattern is omni directional, so expect plenty of ambient noise. But for a large group interview, that could be a plus.
For better ambient rejection in run-n-gun interviews, the best results are still from a cardioid hand mic.
