I wouldn''t trust someone building up portfolio to shoot my wedding or rom as the main photographer even if its free.
I think hiring a bona fide photographer and at the same time...get the free one to be the 2nd photographer would be a good choice if the main doesn't mind

I totally agree, come on people, those for want to do it for free to build portfolio, to get connections for future business etc etc, please lah, its someone's wedding. only ONCE in a LIFETIME! How can u say u'll do it for free when u've no experience in this area at all? What if u screw up that person's wedding? Being a second photographer will be better definitely, you shoot with no worries and u win cos u get to add to your portfolio and pictures don't turn out well you're not answerable to anyone except yourself, so pls, for those who want to shoot free for other's wedding when you've no prior experience, pls rethink about it. Doesnt mean you shoot other stuff before you can shoot a wedding well too. Good things don't come cheap and cheap things don't necessarily mean good things.

Agree to what is mentioned. some pple just doesnt know the grave importance delivering. Dun even bother with those who doesnt have much to showcase and experience allow you to take it up confidently. your reputation may be nothing to them . But can you allow yourself to walk away with a sorry bcos u miss their kissing shot or their ring shot or worse still Blur ring shot. This isnt a casual shoot opportunity , this is a once in a lifetime event for the couple.
