Finally finish processing the lot..
Ok, heres my try at this new site...

#1: Spaceship, the Cuttlefish
Cuttlefish01copy-vi.jpg

- UPed the shadow of this pic, used healing brush to remove the backscatter on the cuttlefish.
- Delibrately leave the rest of the backscatters in place.. thinking of using them to create a star-filled space.. does it work for u? or u prefer to have a clean black background?

#2: Underwater Ballerina
bullocki03-vi.jpg

- A butt shot of this bullockii. Seems like its going on POINTE.. a ballet term to describe the dancer going on tiptoe... hmm.. how to make a butt shot look nice huh? think most ppl will be attracted to the front shot rite?

#3: Frontal Shot of Emma
Emma01-vi.jpg

- Does the placement looks funny to u?

#4: Cropped off Gongornian shrimp
GongornianShrimp03-vi.jpg

- Couldnt move away enuff to fill up the whole shrimp in frame.. does this still works for you?

ok.. tried to do different strobe placement.. top down.. side.. frontal..

all doesnt come out nice for such a big subject..
(*yes.. i know.. my strobe is not powerful enuff... )

so if u were me.. with such limitation, how will you compose and take the pic?

TOP-DOWN strobe placement
GiantPuffer-vi.jpg

-- created an unsightly shadow cast on the ground i feel.. and the eyes area abit dark loh..

the stars looks good! just add STARWARS the attack of the cuttlefish haha :bsmilie:

good stuff. got a nice moment i think but i find the backside a bit distracting. dunno if cropping it would make it better. also the colours don't seem to pop

Haven't seen this Pipefish before. A good spot by your beloved buddy! I think the head shot really brings out the subject...otherwise, ppl might mistake it for a twig *like you did earlier*.

Your 1st pic very nice. Shows the pipefish very nicely. But your 3rd one, is it a bit OOF?

oh.. u mean the backside of the cuttlefish? u prefer to crop it off.. making it like a landscape closeup? hmm icic.. hmm colour doesnt pop huh.. maybe i didnt add up the constrast.. hee..

hoho.. but its the truth that most ppl prefer to look at the front than the butt mah.. hEE..

Thanks for your valuable comments. :D

yes.. 1st time seeing such a "thorny" kind of pipefish. Got tenacles protructing out from the eyes, head and the body...

someone says its may be a Micrognathus brocki, Brock's pipefish.

Tried hard on the head shot.. but guess really hard to get a gd focus on it eyes.. and the placement.. wish i could go lower to get a eye level shot of it..

yes, mantaray.. its going a bit OOF.. the focus is more on the part after the eye.. pity.. pity..

It's ok. You can always go back there, ask ivy to look for it again, and shoot somemore.
