Been stuck in FCP7 limbo like many editors. Not willing to go Windows, no budget for Avid, no stable CUDA on old mac pro. No OpenCL support from Premiere Pro (until very recently) This is a very slight respite but still reeling from Adobe's creative cloud announcement. WTF!

I have moved on to Premiere Pro CS6. Sometimes I play with FCP X. I think Premiere Pro CS6 is surprisingly similar to FCP7. Then again, Premiere Pro CC is already out by the time I write this. Premiere Pro also exports faster than FCP.

FCP X is good for quick edits. Easy to put something simple in a short time.

Anyhow, I think Macbook Pro Retina is a great option for editing with the portability. Only the motion graphic artists or people editing Red/Raw may need to consider the new black Mac Pro for added power.
