As in, 21mm, 24, 28 or 35, and why?

21 and 25 and 28 and 35

They all have different usage.

21 is great for landscape, buildings, instances where you really want wide.

25 is for when you need a little less exaggeration but still want wide.

28 is great for normal indoor and great for traveling, where you need to take buildings, churches from a distance and sea side landscape...

35 is a good general purpose lens, where you don't want to bring too many gears, just one wide angle is good enough. Can use for portrait if u are 70cm away, at the same time can use for buildings and landscape when set at infinity or 10m away. But for indoor interior, it's a little restrictive.

You can get all CV 21/f4 25/f4 28/f2 + 35/f1.4 for MUCH less than a second hand summicon 35. :)

Alternatively, 35/f1.2 + 28/f2 + 21/f4 at about the same cost.

But if you want faster f2.8 then you can only get one CZ 21/f2.8 + CZ 25/f2.8 (second hand) with the roughly the same amount of money(maybe more).

I have a IIIF and do mainly B&W, so I use a Summaron 35mm 2.8f (I think). This is a 1950s screw-mount lens. Very Retro, mainly outdoors. Bought for about 100 euros + $100SGD cleaning at P&G.

cheers!

I use Nokton 35mm F1.4, budget lens for that wide & speed of course quality cant compare with the german stuff la ;)

Leitz 21/3.4 for me, as it is the only wide angle i have ;p

I use the Voigtlander 25mm F4 pancake lens (Coz I got it dirt cheap)..

Slow but I seldom shoot at night. Great coz of it's compact nature, but it doesn't have rangefinder coupling, so it's all zone focused.

enivre, very nice, i like the top left one and the waterfall best!

Thanks guys, the reason I ask is because I am considering a 21 or 24 but am wondering if there are any difficulties using these on an RF. Exploring some of the older pieces in fact.

I like to use CV15mm f4.5 super wide heilar for landscape shot by going very near to front subject in focus and able to include far distance scenery as well. The 15mm will provide a angle of view equivalent to 20mm on M8.

Will prefer the 21mm to 24mm. Never try the old 21mm Super-Angulon f3.4 or f4. The back element protrude too deep into the camera and will affect TTL metering.

:)

21/3.4, low distortion, high vignetting

Not one of your lenses in the lists but here's what a 15mm looks like... One of my fav lenses.

Not at all. The wider you go, the less difficulty there is... Tonnes of DOF :bsmilie:

And personally I find the distortions are surprisingly little compared to a similar focal length slr lens. Maybe I'm comparing apples to oranges. Or its just a (biased) perception thing.

 For the CV15/4.5 LTM. Used to use this alot in the street... but got side-lined recently to test-drive the CZ21/2.8

thanks Yatlapball for the feedback, and also all the other CSnapers who gave advice.
