Greetings my fellow rangefinders(RF) enthusiasts, get ready for RF.SG's first public event... we are going live!!!

"RF - An Introduction" @ Singapore Arts Museum (Glass Hall) on Friday, 6th August 2010, 6pm-9pm

The 2.5-3 hour event will feature keynotes by speakers from our very own community, sharing their passion, their experiences and their journey into world of RF. We will also be showcasing photographs taken using RF by people like you and me. For those who have always wanted to know more about RF and get their hands onto one to try, come-on down and our RF ambassadors will be on-site to engage in friendly Q&A, as well as bringing their personal RFs for you to try. You would be surprised that despite the advancement in photography technology, there are quite a number of us who believes in the fundamentals of simplicity. The very beginning in the evolution of photography to what it is today.

Leading to this event, we would like to invite all RF users to participate and be part of it. We are opening an opportunity for everyone of you RFers to contribute your photographs, taken by RF only, to be featured at the event itself! Your photographs will go through a selection process and selected pieces will form part of the display during the event. More details will be sent to those who's work have been selected.

Now... how can you send in your works?

Each RFer will be allowed to send in 10 pieces of their favourite photographs (only taken using a RF and we trust you on that) following the example as stated below (please follow the format) and send it to rangefinder.sg@gmail.com

Example:
Title of email: Bernard Tan @ SAM
Name: Bernard Tan
Contact: 97727146
Attachment: Pic 1 (title of pic), Pic 2 (title of pic)...

[please DO NOT send in high-resolution copies in the email, so as to allow the emails to be sent through.]

We are opening the contribution from now till Sunday 18th July 2010, 2359 hrs. Contributions after that will not be entertained to facilitate consolidation, selection and processing. It is important to leave your Name and Contact behind, so we can contact you, should your works are selected.

Should your works are selected:
***Film RFers, would need to scan your negatives @ a minimum of 3200dpi for submission. Digital RFers would need to send in a high resolution copy.***

More information regarding the event will be released closer to the date and we hope to see you, and anyone you know who have an interest, passion, or just simply curious about what's with RF @ SAM.

Common Questions:

Are the cameras only restricted to changeable lens RF?

No. We welcome pictures taken by any rangefinder, film or digital. You can be using a Yashica GSN, a Minolta 7 or even an Olympus XA, all are welcomed to take part! And do not forget, we are not restricting to only 135 or 35mm. Medium format users like the Mamiya 6 & 7, unique formats like the Hasselblad Xpan are also welcome!

Why are we restricted to only 10 pictures? Can I send in more?

Apologies to everyone, but bearing in mind the amount of photos the Selection Committee has to go through, its only fair that each person is restricted to 10 photos. Remember, we are looking for quality works. So be selective and critical in your selection too :)

Can the deadline be extended?

As of current, the deadline is set as the Committee will need time to select the works and contact the respective owners to send in the high-resolution copies and time is a luxury we do not have. So get your cameras, start shooting and get them developed and scanned!

Come on my fellow Rangefinder users, lets be part of this inaugural RF event in SG!

Yes! I have finally submitted my 10 pictures. Maybe not the strongest but those I can feel and remember.

Have you submitted yours?

We are so glad to see the responses and we thank each and everyone who has contributed. We are small community and its going to take every little bit of support all of you to realise this event.

Remember, we are not only talking the event, we are making the event happen.

Keep those entries coming :)
