Home is wherever I may roam

My interpretation of home is where...

...the (durian) season pricketh every gentle heart...

My first submission,

Home

Such a deceptively simple topic, here's my humble take on 'home'. :)

_____

Home is freedom to express myself.

F1000031.jpg

Home is kinship and friendship.

F1000001.jpg

Home is transient and delible.

Reunion

I can only think of one photo I have taken which encompasses everything which means "home" to me.

This is a photograph I took 7 months after I was attacked by a robber (who was after my gear by the way). As a result of the attack I have been on crutches all through these 7 months.

This was taken at the bottom of a flight of stairs which leads up to my parents walk-up apartment who live on the 4th floor. I remember slowly making my way up on two crutches to have reunion dinner about a month after the incident.

This was also a spot which my wife and I took one of my favourite photographs of us the day we got married, 3 months before the incident.

After closing down my studio and selling almost all my gear, I came back to this spot (and several others) 7 months later to take a photograph to remind myself of the value of being home while rekindling my love for photography.

I am still on crutches and look forward to making a full recovery in the months to follow.

Okay sorry for the long explanation, but I thought I would share this little story. :)

Home is where you feel most comfortable in, regardless. Where you kick back and relax, anywhere anytime. You call the shots.

Home is... A place where I can dream!

Home is not limited to just a lodging like an apartment, but anywhere where we can derive a sense of comfort and security....

It can be the floor of a phone booth on a busy and dirty street,

Or on a small rowboat on the Hoang Long river.

It can even be a park bench by the lake that we call 'home' for an hour or two..

Home is everywhere, even some tourists make themselves feel at home when they travel.

Home is where you can share moments with those close to your heart.

Do not think my pictures are good enough though.

You know you are home when the airplane touches down Changi Airport, ending another weary journey.
