A team of us went to Nepal to capture some wonderful culture and street scene...while I make this post now in Singapore...some of them still shooting in this beautiful, rich culture country...

Let me start by posting some of the digital M9 shots with 35 Lux ASPH V1

Street life in Bhaktapur

Time seems to stand still in this little city. People still live in the old way. A real cultural site.

The little school girl who is trying to get her pant zipped...

You should look at her cute little satisfied face when she managed to do it by herself.

Sweetening Joy

This is how their small little classroom looks like. It makes me wonder how fortunate our kids are.
RF.SG thanks the teacher for letting us take the shots of the school kids. In appreciation for their kindness, we brought a jar of mentos sweet for the kids. The kids truly lighten up our day of tired shooting.

The colours of Kathmandu

Nepal is truly a street shooter Nirvana. Your camera will be non stop clicking.

Rushing monk

This is taken in a street in Thamel area.To walk through the streets of Kathmandu means to get lost in the spidery maze of narrow alley ways. The narrow road are full of people in different colors, it was like chaotic parade. Everyone was busy, busy on their daily life. Lots of tourist. Rickshaw waiting for customer, sweepers trying to clean the mesh of rubbish dump, vehicles trying to squeeze through the crowd and we the team busy capturing the moments, the moment of rush.

Watching the days go by

An old man sitting on a step. Bhaktapur is listed as a World Heritage by UNESCO for its rich culture, temples, and wood, metal and stone artwork.

Road side vegetable seller

Taken somewhere near Ason Square.

Swayambhunath Stupa
6321376118_ccf69eda87_b.jpg

If you don't take a picture of the Stupa, how can you said you been to Nepal.

We were breathless and sweating as we stumbled up the last steep steps and practically fell upon the biggest vajra (thunder-bolt scepter) that I have ever seen. Behind this vajra was the vast, round, white dome of the stupa, like a full solid skirt, at the top of which were two giant Buddha eyes wisely looking out over the peaceful valley which was just beginning to come alive. Swayambhunath is also known as the Monkey Temple as there are holy monkeys living in parts of the temple in the north-west. They are holy because Majusri, the bodhisattva of wisdom and learning was raising the hill which the Swayambhunath Temple stands on. He was supposed to leave his hair short but he made it grow long and head lice grew. It is said that the head lice had transformed into these monkeys. (Source from Wikipedia)

Hi Thomas, did you PS your colour shots or was it straight from the camera? Great, colorful shots! Really pops out.

Btw, did you guys try the garlic soup and Nepalese bread. I remember it was really good.

Sounds like fun. How many of you guys went? Did you get a guide?

All RAW files was processed in LR 3.5 and not in PS. Tried the Nepalese food on the first day, not really a fan of it. Turn out that there are nice Korean and Japanese food there...:bsmilie:

There are 7 of us all together. No guide.

Some from Nepal, so far DO & scanned 2 rolls only.

Shooting Nepal from another dimension! haha
