Hi everyone!

I must confess, I've been reading the forums for 2 weeks now and I'm more confused now than before.

I'm looking for a RF to try my hand at street photography so will need something light and compact. I'd also prefer a wide lens so that I can get up close and personal with my subjects. I understand that there are MANY things to consider but what would you recommend to someone who's just starting out with RF? I also have a budget of Sin$500-$700 (body + lens).

Btw, are they any RF interest groups in Singapore?

you can try fixed lens rf, they are generally cheaper, something like yashica electro 35 or olympus xa go for $100-$200

Second that.
Get a fixed lens RF for a start. U would like to consider Canonet Ql-17 GIII.
Fixed 40mm lens and F1.7

Theres a few seller around in the "other camera/brand and format" thread.

I still own this set. Great camera to shoot street with silent shutter.

Yup, the fixed lens rf mentioned above are great choices.

Have a look at Karen Nakamura's site. She does have quite a bit of rangefinders.

There are lots of cheap and good rangefinders that cost under $200. Some can even cost under $50 if you are lucky.

For example, the Olympus XA, Olympus Trip 35, Yashica Minister D, Canonet GIII, Minolta Hi-matic series. If you are willing to have a go at rangefinders without built in meters, the list will just get longer. There you are in the realm of the Zeiss Ikon, Voigtländer etc.

Photographer reaction has to be fast for certain street shots and a quick, easy to use rf can be helpful. Built-in light meter, auto shutter speed are nice to have.

Any where/place that sell cheap, usable ones (w/o light meter, I guess)?
Other than the B/S section here, that is.

eBay, camera repair shops / used camera stores, they usually charge a little higher.
